The Cherry Creek Arts Festival’s annual arrival in Denver’s premier fine art, fashion and dining district entitles the city to have a cultural outlet for the July 4th weekend. While the organizers have always missed the larger picture of benefiting the district’s main businesses, they successfully bring people to Cherry Creek North. Many indicators determine success for the festival: from the caliber of the art to the pseudo carnival ride atmosphere the organizers seem bent on offering. Whether or not the artists (once the heart of the festival) find it rewarding depends ultimately on sales. In 2006, it seems apparent that everything but fine art is available for purchase – a good thing for galleries like GALLERY M.
