Bar Art Meet in Cherry Creek
The other day my friend shared with me her experience of “becoming an artist” as she was invited to a private party at ‘Canvas and Cocktails’ in Cherry Creek North. For those unfamiliar with Canvas and Cocktails, the experience is paired with a little wine, beer, chips and pretzels to bring art to the greater population.
As she explained, they don’t often come down to Cherry Creek North from Southeast Denver/Aurora. My friend explained this was a great opportunity to experience another part of the city with friends and family. “Being in ‘Canvas and Cocktails’ was great!” As she was creating her painting she said she was thinking about me and how proud I would be to see her creation. She was right that I would be thrilled for her. Learning to express herself in a way she had never done before is what should always be encouraged. And with CC, this is social networking at the very closest to home-not virtual-but right in your own back yard. For the neighborhood, it’s a fantastic business – just not the ideal image. Under the guise of education, the concept makes money off of creativity. Being inebriated with a canvas and paints is likely not going to yield our next Picasso. An inebriated Pollack is more probable. As for my friend, I’m thrilled at what she found she could do – and that she made it home safely.
