Flames scorch housing to D.C. Commission of Fine Art

Naturally, disasters force hard decisions.   Finding a sound replacement to picturesque views and lifestyle is not so easy.    The January Pallisade fires have many heading to other desirable states, including Colorado’s Front Range! Mountain proximity, Michelin-star vibes, AND an inspiring cultural, arts, and iconic sports scene, Denver is your bet.   Denver’s housing market remains steady and balancedclosed sales holding even with last year per DMAR’s latest report.

With Today’s Fed Rate decision, interest rates at or below 6% are sure to increase residential mortgage applications in a residential market with choices.   Yes, Denver’s active inventory is up, but homes are staying on the market for approximately 53 days (still below average for a typical balanced market).

The Palisades Fire and 2025 LA blazes wiped out 10,000+ homes, slashing California’s housing stock by up to 75% in key areas.  Consider the additional loss to personally significant items – fine art, keepsakes, and of course memories. Rebuild? Forget it – delays in permits, labor shortages, skyrocketing insurance mean barren lots for YEARS. Families aren’t waiting – they’re migrating EN MASSE to states like ColoradoCalifornians STILL top the list eyeing Denver homes this October.

Why Denver’s the ULTIMATE Escape?

  • Lifestyle WIN: Outdoors + Urban Edge – Hike by day, hit Denver Art Museum or Clyfford Still Museum by night.   Denver’s Film scene is excellent in addition to the upcoming relocation of the Sundance Film Festival in 2027 – hello, film fest glamour!
  • Job Paradise: Aerospace, Tech, Renewablesdiverse economy buffers ANY dip.
  • Sports & Culture: Championship teams + #2 Performing Arts Center nationwide.

DC Drama: Trump’s Bold Fine Arts Shake-up: Game-changer or Eyesore?

Speaking of ART + ARCHITECTUREPresident Trump just FIRED all 6 members of DC’s Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) – the watchdog for White House redesigns!  Why? Paving way for $300M Trump Ballroom + Triumphal Arch along the Potomac. White House: “America First” picks incoming!

My Take – Balanced Eval:

PROS:

  • Presidents ALWAYS appoint/replace (Biden axed Trump’s crew in ’21!).
  • Streamlines BOLD visions – like CO’s fast-build codes attracting migrants! Modernize DC? YES.

CONS:

  • All-at-once purge smells like cronyism – risks tacky designs over timeless beauty.
  • Independence GONE? Historic DC deserves expert checks, not yes-men.

Will it boost DC real estate and tourism like Denver’s cultural boom in both Sports (New Stadiums) and the arts (Sundance 27)?
