Celebrating the Caribbean by Arless Day, 2001
CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY 2012, a regional charity based in Louisiana, is set to benefit from various national and international donors. One such donation came from Colorado based GALLERY M.
“I felt the theme of celebration and optimism means so much especially during this time of the year” says GALLERY M co-founder and Vice President, Mason Hayutin. He choose a work by Louisiana native, Arless Day, titled “Celebrating the Caribbean.”
Monies raised during CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY help to fund the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and its programs throughout Northwest Louisiana.
CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY takes place Saturday, December 8, 2012, 7:00 pm to 3:00 am, at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, Louisiana. More than 2,000 local, regional, national and international guests pay $280 to attend this spectacular, which is sold out within weeks of the ticket sales launch. This year’s theme is APOCALYPSE WOW-Party Like There’s No Tomorrow!
Myrna Hayutin, Director of GALLERY M, stated,
contributing to the success of CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY by donating a work of art by an artist of the region adds to our mission of continuing to build on the foundation of the historical significance of art to enrich the lives of collectors around the world.
CHRISTMAS IN THE SKY 2010 generated more than $750,000 to support Shreveport Regional Arts Council programs throughout Northwest Louisiana, including the NEW Central ARTSTATION, scheduled to open in February 2013 with an Artist Resource Center, flexible Black Box Theatre space and Emerging Artist Gallery. “SKY” proceeds will also advance the development of SHREVEPORT COMMON, a 9-block cultural arts community surrounding the Central ARTSTATION planned according to Creative Placemaking Principles.
