May and June 2025 enabled collectors access to new visions and continued thematic journeys.  Photographers Howard Schatz, Tyler Shields, and Albert Watson released new works and exhibitions.

Watson composed his latest visions about Rome, Italy.    On display from May 29th through August 3, 2025, three rooms pay homage to the monumental city’s architecture, its current contemporary well-being, and the culture found through citizens’ daily.  Of course, through Albert Watson’s lens, the rooms radiate with purpose, juxtapositions, and scale.    Tickets for “A Rome Codex” are available at Palazzo Esposizioni Roma.

Fresh off his “filmatic” release of Chapter 51 (in both New York City and Los Angeles), photographer and filmmaker Tyler Shields offers new works.  Inspired by past themes and even his own private birthday celebrations, Shields takes us to times lost with a modern twist.  His Indulgence series questions luxury consumption while remaining aspirational.  His adherence to photography’s technical advancements pushes the boundaries for all to learn and appreciate.  Like Watson and Schatz, Shields is a technical master, admired by an under-40 crowd, astute collectors, industry technicians, and auteurs.

Schatz’s latest works extend years of focus on form, function, design, and fashion.  Howard’s 2025 release of Dance Study #1700, formally called Ballerinas at The Last Supper, provides another example of the details required for a complex, creative image.   All details are choreographed, scripted, and exact.   All are reviewed to enable the one shot that becomes the “study.”   Now available as part of a small edition (8 total images plus artist proofs), the photograph culminates one of three portfolios that extended Schatz’s continued passion for photography: Modern Dance, Shape of the NFL, and Growing Up.   For those in New York City, Howard’s next in-person discussion is 7PM – 8:30PM on June 27th, 2025.  Visit Soho Photo Gallery’s ticketing site for details.
